Write off up to 78% of your debt with an IVA

See if you could swap all your debt payments for one you can afford. It takes two minutes.

Up to 78% is based on a typical example; what’s written off depends on your circumstances. May not be suitable in all circumstances and fees apply. Your credit rating may be affected. No loans provided. IVAs are only available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

How it works

  1. Tell us roughly what you owe

It takes seconds, and it won’t affect your credit score.

  2. Have a chat, no judgement

One of our friendly advisers calls you. We’ll ask what comes in and what goes out, never how you got here.

  3. Decide in your own time

Nothing happens until you say yes. And if you’d rather do nothing for now, that’s fine too.

See if I qualify

An illustrative example, not a real client. Your payment is set from what you can afford after essential bills. Written off here is what you owe less everything you pay in over the five years, and fees are taken from your payments, not charged on top. Individual results depend on your circumstances and creditor approval, and no outcome is guaranteed. If you own your own property the term may be extended. Alternative solutions may be available. Fees may be payable if continuing services are provided. Credit rating may be affected. Lenders are not obliged to accept less than the contractual payments, freeze interest and charges or stop further enforcement action. IVAs are only available in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Your questions, answered

  • Will this affect my credit score?

Checking your options with us doesn’t. A debt solution is recorded on your credit file, but if you’re already missing payments your score is probably affected anyway, and you can start rebuilding once it ends.

  • How much could I write off?

It depends on what you owe and what you can afford to repay. Some solutions write off part of what you owe; none can promise an amount in advance, and anyone who does is selling you something.

  • Will my creditors stop contacting me?

In a formal solution like an IVA, the creditors in it have to stop contacting you once it’s approved. A Debt Management Plan is informal, so they don’t have to, though most will deal with us instead.

  • Is your advice really free?

Yes. Your first assessment and our advice are free, with no obligation. If you go ahead with a formal solution, any fees are explained upfront before you agree. You can also get free, impartial advice from MoneyHelper.
